The Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club is offering a volunteer Executive position of VP Finance / Treasurer.

We are a vibrant competitive swim club positively effecting the lives of young athletes in Dartmouth and it's surrounding communities for almost 50 years.

We have had great success at local, provincial and National competitions and claim Olympians among our illustrious alumni.

We are a non-profit organization registered with the Registry of Joint Stocks. We employ one full time Head Coach and five part time coaches. Our annual operating budget is approximately $160,000.00

Our elected Board are all volunteers serving in several operational chairs and four executive positions. VP Finance is an executive position with voting privileges.

We are seeking an individual with a strong financial background and a strong knowledge about competitive swimming.

VP Finance / Treasurer responsibilities
  • Managing the operating budget and financial projections
  • Managing Accounts Payable: Opens all envelopes addressed to the club, receives and verifies all invoices, ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Receiving membership fees and payments
  • Maintain book-keeping for accounts payable and receivable
  • Payroll: Payment of wages, payment of all mandated employer expenses (WCB, EI, CPP), preparation of T4, separation slips, etc.
  • Reconciling and balancing: bank statements, mandatory Fundraising Commitment(MFC) statements, Monthly Balance Statements
  • Submits: Monthly financial statement and reports to board, Annual financial statement to Registry of Joint Stocks, Financial statement for Annual General Meeting
  • Acts as one of two co-signers for cheques.
  • Maintain compliance to all fiscal and legal responsibilities required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Receives support from Assistant Treasure responsible for: Deposit all monies received by club, opens envelopes addressed to club as directed, second of two co-signers for cheques.
b) the Fund Raising Chair responsible for compiling the MFC statements
c) the Registrar responsible for membership information and fee schedules
