Seeking CPA to join Board of Directors, Executive member, Treasurer

About Grand View Manor-

Grand View Manor (GVM) is a not-for-profit, 124 resident, nursing-home located in the beautiful Kings county in close proximity to the Town of Berwick, Nova Scotia. We are a significant employer in the area, with 240 staff, students and numerous volunteers.

 

As a Board Member-

The GVM Board of Directors currently has 7 members and every year confirms a slate of Directors at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Board is seeking a professional CPA to join the Board as an executive member, in the capacity of Treasurer.

 

As a member of the Board, you will fulfill the universal responsibilities of ensuring quality of care, the development of a strategic plan, and ensuring the sound fiscal position of the organization, as well as, managing organizational risk, hiring and evaluating the CEO, and pursuing excellence in governance. The Board meets a minimum of four times a year, with one of these being the Annual General Meeting.

 

As Treasurer-

In addition to the universal responsibilities fulfilled as a member of the Board, as Treasurer, you would be responsible for chairing the Finance/Audit Committee of the Board. This Committee is responsible for ensuring that an annual audit of the organization’s finances is conducted by an independent, professional audit firm and that the Committee recommends the completed audit to the Board of Directors. This committee typically meets two-four times a year.

 

All Directors of the Board serve in a volunteer capacity and no Directors receive compensation.
