Our client in Halifax is expanding and we are searching for an Accountant who is working towards his/her CPA.

As an Accountant, you are responsible for providing scheduled support to the Financial Controller in accordance with policies and procedures.  Maintaining accurate and up-to-date receivable sub-ledgers, invoicing, sales report summaries, general account procedures, reviewing financial reports, file maintenance, and monthly account reconciliations are key components of this position.

Position Responsibilities

  • Produce Invoices
  • Produce statements monthly
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Financial analysis of business operation
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Assist the Controller with monthly general ledger reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare weekly bank reconciliations for approval of the Controller.
  • Assist Controller in the preparation of financial data and reports.
  • Perform research, reconcile all bank accounts and resolves all issues in processes.
  • Maintains accurate billing information.
  • Assist Controller with maintaining accounting office filing and record retention requirements.
  • Provide backup assistance to other employees in the Finance department.
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting duties
  • Complete Project Work


Requirements for Success

Qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education
  • CPA certification is an asset
  • 1-3 years of experience in a junior or intermediate accounting role
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills
  • Highly proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional team player


Position works out of a head office in HRM, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
