Controller (Maternity leave replacement)

At GoodLeaf Farms we are focused on producing local and ultra-fresh greens, without pesticides. We do this in an innovative way using efficient vertical farming. Our greens are delivered to stores and restaurants just hours after harvest meaning you get the tastiest, most nutritious product possible. We have farms in Bible Hill, NS and Guelph, ON and are rapidly growing.

We are looking for a Controller to join our team at our Bedford, NS office. This is a maternity leave replacement position with an anticipated end date of March/April 2020. This position will offer the successful candidate a diverse range of hands-on experience in multi-faceted areas of accounting.

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for:

  • Guiding the company’s financial systems, internal controls and all aspects of financial reporting;
  • Supporting all aspects of accounting management, including financial reporting and administration, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, month-end reconciliations, and year-end audits;
  • Conducting monthly financial reporting and analysis, including the preparation of financial statements;
  • Issuing purchase orders and tracking construction budgets for new builds;
  • Overlooking the bi-weekly payroll verification process;
  • Ensuring that data integrity, internal controls and audit trails are maintained throughout all systems and processes;
  • Improving the accounting process, implementing new systems and process enhancements;
  • Introducing and implementing financial controls and policies to comply with legislation and
  • established best practices;
  • Lead the ongoing the implementation of the organizations ERP system, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and system controls from an accounting perspective;
  • All other day-to-day accounting operations and financial activities as required;
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the CFO

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of working experience in Accounting or Finance in a position with a similar scope of duties;
  • Accounting Designation (CPA) is required;

  • Completion of a college or university degree program with a focus on Accounting, Finance or other related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of Sage and/or Microsoft Excel are required
