Manager of Accounting
Location: Elmsdale, NS

The Municipality of East Hants is a vibrant, flourishing community in a uniquely central location in Nova Scotia and in close proximity to Halifax Regional Municipality, Truro and the Bay of Fundy.

Applications are currently being received from a detail-oriented and professional team player for the full time position of Manager of Accounting. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

This position is responsible for:
  • the supervision of seven (7) positions in the areas of accounts receivables, collections, water meter reading, customer service and reception functions in the department
  • overseeing all tax and water related billing
  • ensuring data integrity of billing information and database/customer account management
  • overseeing the internal accounting procedures to maintain integrity of the general ledger, including monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, debt charge administration, journal entries, and fund transfers
  • overseeing all aspects of external accounting/bookkeeping services to nine Volunteer Fire
Departments
  • overseeing all HST remittances for the Municipality and ensuring policies and procedures are in compliance with all applicable sales tax legislation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent with a specialization in Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation or be enrolled in the final stages of the program
  • Previous SAP experience is considered an asset
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in management/accounting role, in which at least three (3) years are in a supervisory role

The Municipality offers a competitive benefit package and the salary range for this position is $71,162 to $88,952.
