TREASURER’S ROLE WITH QUEENS CARE SOCIETY
Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia
Queens Care Society (QCS) goal is to meet the needs of the
older population in our region. Our mission is to engage our community and
create opportunities that enable full participation and contribution from
senior citizens. We value inclusion, diversity, progressive change and look
toward a positive future for all ages in our region.
QCS is a volunteer board that advocates for seniors and
identifies solutions to the needs of our aged. We take the lead for the
betterment of our community, demonstrating compassion and giving voice to those
who may not be heard. We strive to create collaborations and partnerships,
navigating the maze of regulating and governing bodies, to ensure our community
We are a young
organization but have already succeeded in building supports for our older
residents which ultimately benefit all citizens in Queens County. Through our
efforts, we have enabled a new group of volunteers to create a transit system
that will support residents in reaching medical appointments and other
necessary destinations. We have also built a toll-free line for citizens who
require assistance to remain in their homes. It is in its infancy stages but we
hope to expand its volunteer base to better serve our older or disabled
residents. We have recently conducted a comprehensive survey of our elders and
are presently defining our priorities based on their feedback.
We have held our
second AGM and, unfortunately, our most recent Treasurer has had to step down
due to the demands in her new role at work. We are reaching out to CPANS to see
if there are any accounting professionals in the Queens County area that could
volunteer to participate on our board.
We presently meet
once a month and have sub-committees built to focus on particular goals to
achieve our mission. The Treasurer is a member of the executive group and would
be responsible for providing a Treasurer’s Report at the monthly meeting,
participating in the development of the strategic plan, applying for charitable
registration and grants and ensuring fiscal responsibility. The time commitment
is expected to be no more than 4 hours a month.
Thank you for your
consideration. Please contact Grant Webber (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Patti Pike (email@example.com) for further information.
